Minecom at the Bluefield Coal Show 2009

Minecom will be represented at The Bluefield Coal Show by Anthony Hunter (General
Manager) and Mirza Kozarcanin (Business Development Manager). Minecom and
Pyott-Boone Electronics will be jointly occupying booths 202, 204 and 206.

Minecom will be presenting the recently approved VHF system (MSHA Approval No. 23-
A090003-0), together with the approved UHF system (MSHA Approval No. 23-A090001-
0) and the highly anticipated digital radio capabilities over these leaky feeder systems.
There will be an opportunity for everyone to get a first hand demonstration of the text
messaging and data capabilities that have been incorporated in the leaky feeder system.

“It’s a great opportunity for our customers to see the next development in IS leaky feeder
systems; a step that will see leaky feeder surpass many of the competing technologies.
The advantages our digital capabilities provide are not only practical but require minimal
change to existing infrastructure, and at a fraction of the cost of MESH and similar
technologies. We believe that for our customer this is another home run for Minecom”,
says Anthony Hunter.

The digital options have been available for many years in hard rock mines but due to the
intrinsically safe requirements, the main two radio providers (Kenwood and Motorola)
have been slow with their MSHA approval process. With the recent surge in activity
around IS products, the Kenwood NexEDGE (MSHA PAR96986) will bring the digital
capabilities to underground coal mining before the end of 2009. Minecom has an
excellent history when it comes to digital systems, with mines throughout Europe and
Australasia relying on the data transfer and clear voice communication supplied by the
Minecom Digital Leaky Feeder System.
